Dress Code
We know who you are, but unfortunately,
other people will judge you by the way you look, so please
follow this code:
Wear the New School t-shirt or sweatshirt on the OUTSIDE
every day of school, and at
every school activity after school. It must have your name printed over the logo.
(Remember, many jobs require a uniform.)
Please do not argue with staff about your clothes.
If your wardrobe is more important than your
education, you have a problem. You must bring a backpack or something large enough for your
planner and binder to and from school every day.
*No:
- hats or other hair coverings.
- red or blue scrunchies or hair clips.
- bald heads, are often judged as signs of gang involvement, which may endanger the whole school. Therefore, we expect all students to have hair at least ½ feet long. If you prefer to be bald,
we will provide a hair covering for you.
- Tattoos (including dots on hands) which anyone may consider represents a gang or tagging crew. Gang related tattoos must be covered at all times during the school day, and the student must be attending weekly gang counseling sessions or doing> community service hours to have tattoos removed. You cannot be successful at New School and still claim.
- Clothing/jewelry that has a crude, disrespectful, violent, sexual or alcohol or drug-related message.
- Bandanas (any color), and letter belts.
- Hickies are bruises. They must be covered with bandaids.
- Red or blue crosses. (Many of us are Christians. Try pink or yellow.)
- Very short skirts or shorts, and no visible underwear (including boxers), please.
- Any other article of apparel which the staff deems inappropriate.
- No personal electronic equipment except for cell phones. Cell phones must be turned off during class time. New School is a community. Your music or games are not the same as real people. Disconnect from them while you're with us and join our group. Phones may only be used during breaks.
- Guys must wear black or blue pants.
- Makeup should be applied in private, not in class.
*Most of these policies are based on District Policy 5408.3.1. This Dress Code and the Pajaro Valley School District Discipline Policy were in your
registration packet, and
have been signed by all parents and students. They will be enforced at the New School. The Dress Code and Discipline
Policy categories one, two, and three will be dealt
with by the Head Teacher in consultation with the staff. Discipline Policy category four may be
dealt with by the School Council. For further information regarding the
dress code please call or email your school office or administrator at
(831) 761-6140 or e-mail don_egggleston@pvusd.net.
