History
New School began in February of 1994 as a response to gang violence between rival groups of Mexican-American youth. Co-founders were Don Eggleston, PVUSD teacher, and Albino Garcia, gang counselor with Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance. After three successful, but very difficult years, New School became a Community Day School, which means that we now accept only students who are on probation, have been expelled, or are habitual truants. We have evolved into one of the best continuation-type schools in California. Our school day is a full seven hours (8-4) for Newcomers, and we are now located at 165 Harkins Slough RD, in Watsonville.
